We need to continue the Marlington tradition of providing a high quality and academically excellent education for all students.

In order to help prepare students for a rapidly changing job market, we need to ensure every student has access to quality Vocational Education, and that they are not discouraged from pursuing that career path, should that become their educational goal.

We need to consult the public and especially the parents of students, when considering curriculum changes.

We need to take an in-depth educated look at the Common Core curriculum, and decide, whether it fits with the values and principles of the Marlington community.

I believe that it is fundamentally wrong to make any tax levy permanent. The right of the people to vote to renew tax levies is their way of keeping that governing body accountable. When a levy is made permanent, the recipient becomes unaccountable to the people. Marlington Schools needs to stop running their renewal levies, as permanent levies.

We need to recognize that the Marlington Community has rejected the idea of new buildings. At this point, to continue to ask is antagonistic to the voters, and is against everything that is great about democracy.

We need to have an honest and candid discussion with the community about the state of the public's buildings, and what it will require to repair and upgrade them. We need to secure the necessary funds, and then begin repairs immediately, to halt further degradation.

What Marlington needs is a board member who will listen to and respect the voice of all the people, regardless of whether they agree with them, or not. We need someone who is absolutely willing to represent the people, even if it means going against his or her own personal conviction on a given issue. I am that person.
